Parkdale is a riverside community in northwest Calgary, on the north bank of the Bow River between West Hillhurst and Point McKay, just below Foothills Medical Centre. The river pathway runs along its south edge, and Parkdale Crescent has a small strip of shops and restaurants in buildings from the 1950s to the 1970s.

The Bow River pathway runs the length of the community, with Parkdale Plaza and an outdoor fitness park along the way. Edworthy Park, about 169 hectares, is across the river, and Shouldice Athletic Park in Montgomery has sports fields, a pool and an arena.

Parkdale was laid out as the Parkdale Addition around 1910, but most of it was built in the 1950s by builders including Keith Construction. The South Shaganappi plan marks Parkdale Crescent as a Neighbourhood Activity Centre.
