Lower Mount Royal is a narrow inner-city strip just south of 17 Avenue SW, running from about 7 Street to 14 Street SW, below the escarpment where Upper Mount Royal's estate homes begin. The Canadian Pacific Railway promoted the area in the early 1900s, and Lower Mount Royal got the smaller lots and porch-fronted wood-frame houses, most of which were later replaced by walk-up apartments.
Today it is almost entirely condos, and it's one of the more affordable ways to live a block or two from 17 Avenue. 63 homes sold over the last 12 months, nearly all condos, mostly for about $170K to $450K. The live listings come first, then condo prices and fees, and how Lower Mount Royal compares.
