Peacekeepers Park, at 3031 Dallaire Avenue SW, is a national memorial to Canadian peacekeepers, with a bronze statue, a Wall of Honour and a wall listing peacekeeping missions. It was dedicated on Peacekeepers' Day in 2004 and has hosted Calgary's Peacekeepers' Day ceremony, held around August 9.

The theme runs through the whole community: many streets are named after Canadian peacekeepers, and Buffalo Park remembers the nine Canadian Forces members killed in 1974 when their Buffalo aircraft was shot down over Syria.

Mount Royal University is just north, and Marda Loop's shops and restaurants are a short drive or bike ride away.

There are no schools inside Garrison Green. Bishop Carroll High School (Calgary Catholic) and the francophone École Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys are just north, around Mount Royal University. MAX Teal and MAX Yellow both stop at Mount Royal University, a short walk north. Check Calgary Transit for routes.

Crowchild Trail forms the east edge and Glenmore Trail the south edge, so downtown, the ring road and the Glenmore Reservoir are all quick drives.
